Common Questions in a Tinnitus Support Group

In 2020, I started to lead a tinnitus support group. In 2021 I started to lead another one for 18-30 year olds. Both with the BTA. Both have regulars and new comers.

There are always the same topics that come up time and time again. I thought I’d write them down for anyone else searching for those answers.

Are there any helpful smartphone apps?

What Tinnitus Treatments are successful?

What food and drink affect Tinnitus?

How does someone Habituation to their tinnitus?

Is there any Research happening on Tinnitus that I can be a part of?

Why is their pain in either my ear or jaw or neck?

Why is tinnitus affecting my sleep?

Where can I get free help?

  • Take on Tinnitus: is a module the BTA has created to help you understand your tinnitus.
  • Some YouTube channels that have exercises for TMJ, one of my favourites being Dr Adam Field
  • Sleep Station is course affiliated with the NHS that can help with your sleep
  • Silver Cloud is a course affiliated with some NHS trust that can provide you with free CBT.

What do I need to do to reduce my tinnitus in noise?
